A popular song on the radio caught my attention the other day. It is by Dean Lewis, “Be Alright”–
This beautiful song memorializes the pain of dealing with infidelity discovery. It also talks about the pain of disengaging from a cheater.
I disagree with some of its messages.
For example, I do not believe time alone heals wounds. It takes working through the wounds to heal.
Also, I do not recommend using alcohol or another relationship as coping strategies for dealing with the pain of a traumatic relationship ending. That is unhealthy.
However, I appreciate how Lewis memorializes the tough love of his friends in this moment. They give him good–yet hard–advice many of us need to hear in the moment of infidelity discovery.
We may know in our hearts that it is over and time to walk away. However, we need good friends both to remind us of this difficult truth and that we will be okay without the cheater in our life.
Hard to listen to, but all those who have been through it feel the agony and know it’s true. Thanks for posting.
