The nations are in an uproar, the kingdoms totter;
he utters his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our refuge.-Psalm 46:6-7, NRSV
Fear and anxiety seems to be a constant companion after discovering infidelity.
The “What if’s” easily can drive one insane with terror over what might happen or what might have already happened. This all goes back to a loss of safety following the soul rape–i.e. adultery.
As I walked through my healing up to the divorce and following, I found a popular song of much help. It reminded me of the truth expressed in the Psalm above:
Our God is the “Lord of Hosts.”
Jesus is always with us (Matthew 28:20), and He commands these angel armies (I Peter 3:21-22). He is mighty and is our friend (John 15:14). So, you can dwell on those truths when Satan buffets you with lies and tries to steal your peace with fear.
Here’s the song:
“Whom Shall I Fear [God of Angel Armies]” by Chris Tomlin–
