You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
-Romans 5:6, NIV
“At just the right time”
I think we are conditioned as a species to think the “right time” is when we are able to “save ourselves.” We think that is when a partnership with God is appropriate.
But that is not how God sees it!
It was “when we were still powerless” that God understood the time was right to send His son to our rescue. I think this is to help us from falling into the deadly trap of thinking we are equal to God. We are not.
How does this relate to adultery discovery and divorce?
I have seen this principle at work on numerous occasions in my own life. The Enemy–meaning Satan–and his minions seem to be winning. I am discouraged and my back is against the wall.
I got nothing. It is bleak.
At that moment of relative “powerlessness,” God starts sending in the “reinforcements.”
A prophetic person shares just the right word I needed to hear to keep going. Someone takes me on a trip with them up to their cabin to get away from the madness. A friend grabs me and takes me to lunch. I could go on…
What has it been for you? Has a post here been that “reinforcement” from God that you desperately needed?
I am under no illusion that I can do this life without God. He has bailed me out of too many apparently hopeless situations for me to think otherwise.
God is God. He is faithful, and He is wildly in love with us, His children!
I am grateful to God. He knows our needs, and He knows just the right timing to come to our aid.
