Recently, news broke about a Christian comedian known for his parodies of the evangelical culture.

John Crist canceled his tour to deal with a pattern of admitted sinful behavior towards women. If half of what is shared in the breaking article (click here) is true, Crist is a predator.

The article shares stories of how Crist leveraged his celebrity status to get women involved with him sexually. This included, reportedly, married women.

This “problem” was one that was allegedly happening for years! 

While he is not officially a pastor, he is certainly a Christian leader with a broad platform teaching through his comedy. Personally, I am looking at this through the same lens as a pastor abusing his platform as that is what I see Crist having done (allegedly).

One story has him using alcohol in a (failed) attempt to bed a star-struck victim. Another story has him pursuing a married woman whose marriage was “abusive” (anyone recognize this cheater ploy?). Next, the article talks about him using “free” tickets for his show to guilt-trip women to his hotel room. This is highly predatory behavior, IMO.

I am disappointed to read of Crist’s lack of character as I have enjoyed his skits over the years.

Hopefully, he uses this “break” to focus on his sin issues and does a deep heart dive towards real repentance as opposed to a PR damage control move. Time will tell which one is happening.
