33 Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. 34 Who then will condemn us?
-Romans 8:33-34a, NLT
Uncertainty breeds fear.
Our minds can imagine all sorts of horrors as we sit in a place of uncertainty. Marriage limbo is not an enjoyable place to be.
The stories told to us by those people who condemn us (and the ones we make up on our own) just make the waiting more difficult.
In the middle of this, I want to encourage you to renew your mind on this truth about Christ and our good God:
The most important judgment has already been passed on you and you are forever “IN” God’s family!
When this life is over, I am not worried about the outcome of that final judgment. I have peace knowing it is already settled. And that means all will be well in the end.
I will be with the One who wants me and loves me for eternity.
This puts my present difficulties in perspective.
Sure, it is unpleasant to deal with people’s condemnation and judgment. The uncertainty is hard to deal with. However, the opinions of others go only so far.
The only judgment that really matters says,
“I am wanted, loved, and safe for eternity in that love.”
I encourage you to meditate on those truths when you feel the Enemy trying to get into your head with all sorts of fears. These truths are a balm to soothe my soul. I hope you will find them as such for yours as well!
