When my divorce was finalized, my divorce lawyer congratulated me. I did not feel very celebratory in that moment.
To be honest, I was still hoping for a miracle in the last hour. The divorce finalizing activated just another level of grief for me. It was real. That was a tough moment.
I have no idea whether or not my divorce lawyer was a Christian. She was a no nonsense person.
This person was one of the few people who saw the situation as it was. I suspect it was because she had dealt with cheaters on regular basis as a divorce attorney.
Faithful spouses need clear-sighted professionals–like my divorce lawyer–in their lives.
Too often, we get sold false hope by “Christians” who help–unintentionally and sometimes intentionally–the cheater to continue playing us.
It was hard to hear the things my lawyer told me. I did not want to believe my cheater was doing the things she probably was doing. However, I am grateful in retrospect that I had such a good lawyer.
My encouragement to you is to find such a divorce lawyer if you find yourself in need of severing ties with a cheater.
Sage advice 👍
Agreed 👍
However, unfortunately, I missed out on a lawyer like that. At the time, I couldn’t even get pro bono representation. SMH!
