Who is allowed into God’s presence?
The Psalmist answers this way:
Those who despise flagrant sinners,
and honor the faithful followers of the Lord,
and keep their promises even when it hurts.-Psalm 15:4, NLT
If we believe the Bible and the Psalmist here, this means those who celebrate the adulterous will not enter God’s presence. They are doing the opposite of despising flagrant sinners.
This verse also is instructive to cheaters who come from the “I was unhappy in my marriage” camp:
Marriage vows are promises. Sometimes keeping those promises hurt. God still expects us to keep them.
Another instructive piece from this verse is how it tells us to honor those who faithfully follow God. How well is the church doing that for faithful spouses who end up divorced from flagrant cheaters?
The church ought to care about how well they are or are not honoring faithful spouses.
Why?
This verse suggests people who honor faithful spouses (or others who are faithful to God) are the type who enter God’s presence. That is “kind of” important, right?!
