A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.
-Proverbs 17:7, NLT
A blessing in disguise with cheating revelation is how that awful news exposes ones true friends verses erstwhile “friends.”
I am SOOOO grateful for the many friends who passed that fire-test. These are people who stood by me and did not make excuses for my cheating (now) ex-wife.
They are precious friends.
Did I loose some “friends” in this episode? Yes.
Adultery and divorce are community traumas. Some people refuse to make a hard choice to support godliness. Our values no longer match, sadly.
They are still losses, though.
I invested my heart in those relationships. That is why their callous response to soul rape hurts.
I wished our friendships could have withstood the cheater fire. My door is open if they want to rebuild our relationship starting with their apology. But I suspect no such apology will ever materialize.
Such is life.
So, I focus on the gift of those friendships who have withstand the cheater-fire test. I give God thanks for them.
These are precious, precious friendships.
Never forget that.
