9 The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed,
a refuge in times of trouble.
10 Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you.-Psalm 9:9-10, NLT
Part of the struggle following infidelity discovery is how the injustice sometimes feels unseen or devalued by outsiders.
Faithful spouses are pressured to “forgive” with little to zero acknowledgement of the real and gross injustices they experienced.
In fact, faithful spouses are often labelled “bitter” or threatened with the label of being “unforgiving” when they are really just pleading for someone to acknowledge the injustice of it all!
God sees.
God recognizes the injustices.
And God does not abandon those who seek Him.
The Psalms invite us to pour out our hearts to Him. They encourage us to tell God about the oppression and injustice we feel. The Psalms exhort us to give God our “case.”
God can handle it.
And you can be sure God does not minimize the wrongness of adultery and all the other harmful sins that go with it.
Now, does this mean God will handle the injustices as we wish? Probably, not. But we can trust God who is good, loving, and just. Our pain matters to our good, Heavenly Father!
