Happy Holy Saturday!

52 Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body. 53 Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no one had yet been laid.

-Luke 23:52-53, NIV

Holy Saturday

Within the Christian tradition, we recognize the day between Good Friday and Easter as Holy Saturday. It is commemorates the darkest day in our faith’s history.

This day Jesus laid dead in a cold, stone tomb. All the hopes, dreams, and prophetic words spoken about him felt dead alongside him on Holy Saturday.

Can you relate?

I know I could. It felt like months of Holy Saturdays when I went through my divorce from my Cheater. Like my Savior, I felt like my dreams were bloodied and dead in the proverbial tomb of my marriage’s end.

Yet, we know this is not the end of the story…

But before we get to Easter morning, we have to endure Holy Saturday. It is a real experience. And it is yet another experience our God can relate to. I find that comforting.

You are never alone in your experience of your own personal Holy Saturday. That is one of the promises coming out of Holy Week. God knows how the death of hope and dreams feels. Plus, He is with you in such a time of grief and loss.

Recognizing Holy Saturday means you are never alone!
