Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.
-James 1:17, NLT
Yesterday, I was thinking about the theme of forgiveness. I was struck about how Cheaters often leave the gift of forgiveness unwrapped, because they refuse to repent to receive it.
This prompted me to think:
What heavenly gifts am I not receiving? How might I better align myself with heaven to receive its treasures Christ made readily available to me (Eph. 1:18 & Col 1:12)?
I think the key is found in Colossians. The Apostle Paul talks about our inheritance, which is preceded by a call to give thanks.
…and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.
Colossians 1:12, NIV
Thanksgiving is the key to unwrapping the treasures of our inheritance.
I have seen this principle in my own life. As I prayed thanksgiving prayers and practiced thanksgiving, I found my quality of life was greatly improved and experienced doors opening to wonderful opportunities.
