If they in-laws are saying…

Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage. God will surely judge people who are immoral and those who commit adultery.

-Hebrews 13:4, NLT

If your in-laws are saying cheating behavior is normal, then that tells you a lot!

Your Cheater was raised in this environment. It is what your Cheater knows, and it is likely what they are replicating in your marriage.

Is this the sort of marriage you want in your future?

Do you share the values that adulterous abuse is acceptable?

I hope not.

The Bible gives us permission to end such marriages via divorce (see Mt 19:9). This is a mercy and a way to break free from a family system that is opposed to godly values regarding marriage.

Of course, most of us never knew this was our Cheater’s family value system going into the marriage. Otherwise, we might not have married them.*

If you in-laws try to treat cheating as normal, run… don’t walk!

*To be fair, families have a tendency to “justify” blood relations after the fact, too. Trying to justify what is unjustifiable still is a value statement, though.
