This sort of explanation of an affair is a way to avoid responsibility. It is a way to ascribe the affair to causes like blizzards and tsunamis.
It just happened.
Natural disasters “just happen.” Sin takes an agent.
If this was not so, then God would not bother telling us NOT to sin. We have choices. The problem is a cheater refuses to face this truth.
It just happened.
Such is an explanation given by an unrepentant cheater.
How do I know the cheater is unrepentant?
You have to own your sin before you can repent of it. This statement is a refusal by the cheater to own his or her sins of infidelity.
Staying married to such a person is a dangerous proposition.
If “it just happened,” “it” will probably happen again.
