It isn’t my responsibility to judge outsiders, but it certainly is your responsibility to judge those inside the church who are sinning.

In an article posted yesterday (1-18-22), Julie Roys exposes a situation that is truly disgusting regarding Dave Ramsey and his organization. Her article is entitled: “Exclusive: Audio Shows Dave Ramsey’s Board Knowlingly Kept Adulterous Personality on Staff.”
This is about Chris and Melissa Hogan’s marriage that ended with Chris’ adultery. Ramsey and the Board treated Melissa horribly circling the wagons around their golden child, Chris Hogan, as he went on a lucrative book tour under this cloud as I see it.
While the article by Roys is rather damning, the podcast by one of the principle parties, Melissa Hogan, is even more eye-opening.
Melissa Hogan and Amy Fritz dissect a meeting in May 2019 where Dave Ramsey delivers a “Got Your Six” message to hundreds of Ramsey employees where he discusses the Hogan divorce situation. Here are links to the podcasts dissecting this awful message from Dave Ramsey (Part I and Part II).
What really bothers me about this whole saga was how Dave Ramsey engaged in “The Shared Responsibility Lie” as he distributes blame over the marriage troubles to both Melissa and Chris Hogan despite knowing of marital infidelity by Chris.
In particular, I find what Dave Ramsey says about the Hogan marriage troubling. He tries to play the game of high-minded, third party stating: “And suffice it to say, there are no angels in this story as there usually aren’t . . . .”
This statement obscures the fact that Chris Hogan cheated and Melissa Hogan did not!
She is not to be blamed over such serious marriage-ending sin. However, Ramsey slings this blame at her distorting the narrative in a public forum to hundreds of Ramsey employees!
It is disgusting.
And that does not even begin to scratch the surface of bullying by Ramsey and the Board of Melissa Hogan in this awful story as I understand it. You can hear about that in the podcast “Untangled Faith” mentioned above (in episodes 20 and 21).
I have lost all respect for Dave Ramsey as a result of all of this. This is terrible stuff and ought not to be tolerated by followers of Christ committed to the truth and protecting the sheep.
