The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”
-Genesis 3:12, NIV
I’m convinced some–if not most–Cheaters were ticking time bombs. They had something in the deep past that they eventually attempted to “resolve” by cheating.
The faithful spouse just happens to be the closest and “safest”person to explode upon. They get all the righteous rage that ought to have been directed at parents, for example.
Yet that does not justify the cheating and angry, hurtful words.
We are never given permission to sin. That is not how sin works or how our righteous, holy God works.
It does feel better looking back for me and hypothesizing that maybe that great implosion of my first marriage was already in the cards and really had nothing to do with me.
