When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
-Matthew 9:36, NIV
Ever feel tired and overwhelmed by life?
This is the picture I get regarding the crowd mentioned in Matthew 9:36. They were overwhelmed by the difficulties of life, and the usual religious people were not helping. Sound familiar?
I love this passage.
This was part of the founding passage for a church plant that I helped back in 2011. The point was the church needs to be a place to help the hurting and harassed sheep rest and heal.
Jesus is the person who embodies such healing and offers such rest to all of us.
We can rest because we never have to doubt His love for us. No matter what we have done, or what has been done to us. He loves us. We can bank on that and rest in it.
