18 Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
-Isaiah 43:18-19, KJV
I love history.
Maybe that love the past and my sentimental attachment to the past sometimes keep me stuck longer than is best for me.
Years ago when my divorce was fresh, these words were given to me by some prophetic Christians. They were encouraging me to look to my future. It was good advice.
While I believe grief is important to honor, I also believe we need to be open to the future God is creating for us.
A danger for all of us is to get stuck in the past and miss the good things God is doing for us now. That is how I read the verses in Isaiah 43.
