For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God…
-Romans 3:23, KJV
While it is wise and admirable to work on one’s own sins, issues, and shortcomings, I believe it is important to be clear about one thing:
Faithful Spouse, “fixing” yourself cannot fix your adultery-ravaged marriage.
Despite what “Christian” books and movies say, the marriage problems are not solved by the adultery victim working on himself or herself. To suggest otherwise is to suggest the adultery was really the victim’s fault.
Now, I do encourage soul-searching and a deepening of one’s relationship with God.
That is not wasted effort as its an investment in yourself. However, do not be deceived that this is the magical dust that will transform a remorseless cheater into a repentant one.
We all have free choice. And some will stubbornly refuse to exercise that choice in a godly manner.
