Not ultimately in control

“This is my Father’s world.
O let me ne’er forget
That though the wrong
Seems oft so strong,
God is the ruler yet.”

-“This Is My Father’s World” lyrics by Maltbie Babcock, 1901.

Christians, we ought to be the world’s greatest optimists.

We know who is in control. The world might be falling apart in all sorts of ways. However, we know LOVE is in control. He rules!

I know it is easy to focus on the wicked things people are doing.

The writer of this hymn understood this as well. Speaking from over a hundred years ago, he exhorts us to remember the truth of God’s sovereignty. Whatever is happening will be addressed by our good King.

We have great reason to be optimists!

God is the ruler yet.

And God is perfect love. He will see us through our present difficulties. The end is not here yet for the end will be bathed in goodness and perfect love as God has His way!
