A wise man fears and departs from evil,
But a fool rages and is self-confident.-Proverbs 14:16, NKJV
This proverb caught my eye today.
I think it fits, sadly, many cheaters and others fully committed to their sin. They are angry when called on their folly while also confident in being “right.”
This is not a new phenomenon.
Humans have behaved this way all the way back when this verse was first written. That means, humans, have been like this for thousands of years, at least.
This proverb speaks about the cheater who is over-committed to their sinful folly. It pictures what a hard heart looks like in response to wisdom calling for repentance.
Posts like this, especially, are why I so appreciate this site. Even though I am not an aggrieved (?) spouse due to adultery, having a church elder for a father-in-law (long deceased) who was more concerned with public appearances, whose sins were covered up by the other leaders, and who taught his daughter his sins, I have learned much from your posts why self-professed Christians would place themselves first before Christ even to the detriment of those they claim to love.
