And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, “Master, carest thou not that we perish?”
-Mark 4:37-38, KJV (quotation marks added)
Jesus was not troubled by a storm.
His disciples were terrified thinking this storm would swamp their boat and sink them to the bottom of the sea. But Jesus slept.
It is so easy to look at life’s storms and worry. We forget all too often that we have the Almighty Creator in our “boat” with us. He is not concerned with a mere storm or two. He is always in command.
The waves and danger may be real–I am sure the waves were very real in this story–but that does not mean we ought to give into fear.
Jesus got those disciples safely out of that perilous pickle of a storm. And He can see you through yours!
