Sanctimonious Bovine Scat!

“I feel like I have to keep divorce as an option or I am making my marriage an idol,” says duplicitous Cheater.

“God wants me to be happy,” says self-deceived Cheater.

Sanctimonious Bovine Scat!

The invoking of religion in an attempt to “justify” their cheating is especially awful, in my opinion. It messes with one’s head as we–faithful spouse–have to sort through the additional layer of lies involving the invoking of God now.

Yet they are lies.

This is the important thing to remember. Cheaters will say whatever they wish to “justify” their sins. This does not make what they say truth.

Cheaters might even–sadly–believe what they are saying to us. That does not change the fact that they are lies.

“I feel like I have to keep divorce as an option or I am making my marriage an idol,” says duplicitous Cheater.

Keeping divorce as an option to prove to oneself that one’s marriage is not an idol is idiotic! That is like saying I can’t enjoy my arm without keeping an amputation in mind as a possibility for my future.

The reality is someone is unwilling to do the hard work of keeping one’s vows. So, they are wrapping up dishonorable behavior and considerations in words that sound honorable. It is total BS.

“God wants me to be happy,” says self-deceived Cheater.

God wants you to be holy (see I Peter 1:15-16). Your happiness cannot come at the cost of holiness, or you are following another god.

To be clear:

Committing adultery is the opposite of pursuing holiness!
