Bring Me The Horizon – “Throne”
I listen to a wide variety of music–Classical to country to heavy metal. Recently, I was listening to the radio, and this song was playing. In some ways–not all the lyrics mind you–it had strong Christocentric themes.
This Lenten season I could not help but think about how Christ’s scars and wounds built His throne so to speak.
It is interesting how–like Christ–God uses our scars and wounds to empower us to minister to others. He advances us and builds “thrones” for His servants through their suffering. At least, that has been my experience.
The destruction of my first marriage was like a seed dying (see John 12:24).
It thrust me into deep introspection. I learned a lot about myself, and how I wanted to live my life going forward. This horrible season launched me into my current wildly successful career as a professional chaplain, and that is not even mentioning the ministry generated from this blog.
God used the scars and wounds to transform me. He used an awful, evil experience to help me embrace how He made me. Furthermore, this transformation paved the way to make me into the sort of man that eventually attracted Mrs. DM.
God built a “throne” of authority for me through the wounds and scars I suffered.
Of this, I testify!
