Seared Moments

Certain moments stay with us for a lifetime. They are seared into our memories in technicolor.

I will never forget a walk I had near my old condominium in the city. While I was walking, I was talking on the phone with my now ex-wife. The walk and conversation are still with me today–over a decade later.

She was accusing me of being highly manipulative and deceiving those closest to me–i.e. family and friends who thought “too highly” of me (scare quotes).

It was pure projection on her part. If anything, I suck at lying. That was her strong suite.

In retrospect, I think she was frustrated that she couldn’t turn more of my friends or my blood family against me. They weren’t buying her character assassination of me.

That moment–among others–remains with me. It is a testament to not taking Cheaters at their word.

Cheaters can say all sort of things about you, but really they are telling on themselves.
