When I was in the darkest part of my valley, this song, “You Uphold,” ministered to my soul. The message was one of hope and faith.
I needed to hear about my God believing in me during a time when some of the closest people did not (namely, my now ex-wife and her cohorts).
This song strengthen me to keep running the race of faith.
Like the Apostle Paul in Romans 4:17 talking about God’s character in calling Abraham, this song emphasizes the prophetic power of God. It reminds us that just because we see nothing in the natural that such a natural vision does not mean God is done with us. He calls things into being from nothing.
…God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did…
-Romans 4:17b, NKJV (emphasis mine)
Abraham’s line seemed dead in the natural. This old man was not the natural candidate for being the “Father of Nations.” Yet God called him such, and it came to pass.
What call on your life do you feel is dead?
I encourage you to continue to trust in the power of God’s Word. He does not make promises that He does not keep.
When I was listening to this song years ago, I thought my call into full-time ministry was dead. It looked dead from the natural standpoint.
But God had put a call on my life, and what looked like death turned into the fertile fields from which rich ministry–including this blog ministry–continues to grow.
