Most of the crowd spread their garments on the road ahead of him, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
-Matthew 21:8, NLT
When we married, we likely had no idea our marriage would end the way it did. It was a happy day.
Sure, the saying goes that hindsight is 20/20. We might now notice things we never noticed prior to that wedding day.
However, the marriage started with hope and joy.
That is healthy. I do not think something is wrong with someone for entering a marriage with that expectation and experience. In fact, I think the opposite. If that is NOT there, then something IS wrong.
What happened is that we married someone who had serious character flaws.
These flaws eventually killed the marriage. They were exposed through the cheater’s lies and infidelity. In other words, their sins revealed the truth of their hearts to us.
It was a tragedy.
A marriage started with joy and hope ending in such a dastardly way.
That is on the cheater, though, NOT on the faithful spouse who was the only partner remaining true to the marriage vows.
TBT and TBH 👍
The same happened to my marriage. By the way – great analogy. At the beginning, that crowd of people gave our Lord Jesus Christ a great welcoming. However, it wasn’t long before they turned on Him (Jesus). They (the welcoming crowd), later, revealed their true colors.
