David asked, “Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”
-2 Samuel 9:1, NIV
As faithful spouses, we deal with a lot of betrayals as we go through the valleys of infidelity discovery and divorce.
For many of us, we also experience kindness from unexpected places. People we did not know very well open their homes and hearts to us giving us desperately needed support in our darkest days. That was my experience.
Yesterday, I learned on social media of a death. She only briefly touched my life. However, it brought tears to my eyes remembering her (and her husband’s) kindness to me.
Kindness has true staying power.
I think this is doubly so during a time when we are experiencing extreme cruelty from someone who ought to be the kindest to us–namely, our spouse.
While sad, I am grateful for the memory of this person’s kindness. What a legacy! I hope I leave such when it is my time to depart this life.
