But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
-Genesis 50:20, KJV
Just because God redeems a horrible situation does NOT mean the original sin is less than evil. God can take the discovery of adultery and turn the situation into one of growth for you as He did for me. But that does not change the fact of what adultery is.
Adultery is still evil (see Deut. 22:22).
God’s redemptive work does not change this. What it changes is how we experience it. God who is good gets the final word as opposed to this evil.
Some Christians lose sight of this moral fact about adultery.
They try to paint cheating as a valid marriage “strengthening” experience or a just a growth opportunity for the faithful spouse.
This stance obscures the truth. It minimizes the sin. And it is dismissive of the trauma that faithful spouses experience.
