Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.
-Proverbs 31:10, KJV
Today is our wedding anniversary.
Mrs. DM and I have been married six years. The length of our marriage soon will eclipse the length of my first stormy one.
The irony of this proverb is how I had the reference etched in the inside of my first wife’s engagement ring, which was made with two rubies. You see, I thought I was marrying a virtuous woman.
How little did I suspect that my first marriage would ever end (and let alone under the cloud of her adultery)!
My sixth anniversary was experienced about the same time I learned about my first wife’s adultery partner. What an awful experience that was!
While this round, I am working away from the home as my wife is packing up our house for an upcoming move. I am excited to get back home in a couple of days to celebrate our anniversary with her.
The contrast between those two anniversaries is stark. I am so glad to be married to Mrs. DM (and not my first wife)!
I share this as an encouragement.
This day was not even in the remotest part of my brain as I was going through that first sixth anniversary. But soon that first marriage will be a minor footnote in the amazing life God has provided for me.
I don’t know if your new life will mean getting remarried or not. That is not the point of this. My point is life can and does get better once you are free from your cheater.
