Telling on themselves.

Cheaters often overestimate their own cleverness.

They think they are getting away with it all. But rather, their words are telling everyone with ears to hear the reality of their sins.

How does this work?

They level an outrageous accusation towards the faithful spouse. Maybe they say that the faithful spouse is manipulating everyone close to them? Maybe they accuse the faithful spouse of cheating?

They make such accusations because it is the overflow from their own sick heart (see Mk 7:21-23). These are things they are doing!

So, they either believe everyone behaves like themselves, or they hope so to silence the guilty feelings.

They are telling on themselves. The unfounded accusations have little to nothing to do with the faithful spouse and everything to do with the sins of the cheater.
