Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
-I John 3:18, NIV
There is a type.
Something was “off” with him. Sure, this person had all the appearances of righteous Christian. He talked about “grace” and “repentance.” Yet something did not “square.”
His words and actions, ultimately, did not match. His “love” really was PR cover for “hate.”
The Apostle John warns us about not becoming like this.
He insists that our actions need to match our profession. It is not enough to know the Christian lingo. We need to walk it out in practice. This is not optional for true followers of God.
The sad thing about going through a divorce from a cheater is how many people fail in this area. This “type” is very prevalent. A prototypical example is a cheater, of course.
