Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love–Isaac–and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.”
-Genesis 22:2, NIV
Leave it to cheaters to pretend they are doing something noble while acting treacherously and wickedly towards their spouse.
They might invoke the story of God asking Abraham to sacrifice Isaac to do this. The cheater sees herself as Abraham giving up her “Isaac”–i.e. marriage–to honor God’s supposed revelation to her.
It is disgusting and utterly perverted thinking.
God is never going to ask or direct us to sin. Discarding your spouse while cheating is not something God is going to ask one to do as it is sin.
Such a cheater is deep in delusional territory. They are gone.
If you have such a cheater, I would encourage facing the reality that he or she is done with the marriage. They are now simply trying to coordinate a story about how they aren’t evil for choosing the sins they are choosing.
The cheater is cloaking herself or himself in religious language to “justify” their sin. They are playing the martyr.
Reality is that such cheaters are perpetuating great treachery towards their spouse. However, they are far from in touch with reality.
