I gave faithless Israel her certificate of divorce and sent her away because of all her adulteries.
-Jeremiah 3:8, NIV
I am grateful for the merciful gift of divorce.
The mercy is for the faithful spouse. They are set free from the destructive path the cheater is hell-bent to follow to their ultimate spiritual destruction (see Hebrews 1o:26-27).
My greatest joys these days were made possible by my divorce:
Mrs. DM and Munchkin are in my life. Plus, the parrots, too, would never be a part of my life if I had never married Mrs. DM.
If I was still married to my cheater, none of these relationships would exist. I would be stuck with someone who had or has complete contempt for me and God’s commandments. So, I am very grateful for the gift of divorce.
God is merciful.
I love your blog as it gives me clarity after my own divorce from the cheater. And I’m thrilled that you have Green-cheeked conures. I had the joy of one for fifteen years and, when she died in 2015, I took in one who needed a new home. My (ex) husband would show flashes of cruelty to our pets, and divorce freed me from that fear (and gave me many other gifts as well).
