The Physical

“Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.”

-I Corinthians 6:18, NIV

Physical Affair vs Emotional Affair

Both are cheating and awful for the faithful spouse. They both cause incredible damage to the to the point of destroying the very foundations of that relationship.

That said, for me, the physical affair was the worst.

In some way, I believe my (now) ex understood that we would be done if she went physical with another man. Or–which is more likely–she would lose the moral high ground in marriage conflicts once it was known that she had cheated physically. So, she discarded me as her adultery came to light.

To this day, I believe the ending of our marriage was less about the cheating and more about losing power over me. A debt of love was not one that family was willing to live under.

Assuming you had both types of cheating, I don’t know which you personally felt was more egregious. I am just sharing my personal opinion about what bothered me and its implications.

Maybe it was different for you? That is fine. Both types are wrong and awful betrayals!
