Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron….
-I Timothy 4:2, KJV
I am convinced the “best” liars are self-deceived cheaters.
They believe what they are telling others. This might be the verbal diarrhea of “justifying” why they had to cheat or were entitled to cheat on their spouse.
The saddest part of these characters is how far from God that they are.
They have lost the capacity to grasp the truth. Their consciences are not insensitive to Holy Spirit.
How did they get to this place? They chose it.
I believe they chose it over and over again, actually. God gives us many chances to turn from our sins. He does this as He is very merciful. This is true for cheaters, too.
Sadly, I believe many cheaters are deaf to God calling them back out of their sins. Or they are willfully turning away from Him because the path back requires the hard work of humility and true repentance.
So, they chose the path of self-deception and lies. This leads to spiritual death (see Hebrews 10:26-27). It is a sad, sad, destructive path to choose.
