Time for “new thing”

“Forget the former things;
    do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!”

-Isaiah 43:18-19a, NIV

Sometimes the marriage is not fixable, and it comes time to focus on a new thing.

A cheater who refuses to repent makes a marriage not fixable. It would be unwise to reinvest in a relationship with a cheater still shifting blame or excusing their sinful behavior. This is to invite further abuse.

Another thing that might not be fixable is the lost trust. A cheater who has carried on a secret life for months or years may never be able to rebuild the trust abused.

How can you trust such a deceitful person? It is unwise.

This is a hard truth to swallow for many faithful spouses. I suspect many of us wished our marriages were “fixable.” The reality is somethings just aren’t.

When things are not fixable, the merciful thing to do is accept the divorce and sail off into the “new thing” God is doing in your life.
