Toxic “Christian” Leaders

15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?

-James 2:14-16, NIV

Plenty of Christian leaders will tell you that they love you and are praying for you.

Watch out for those leaders who feel entitled to dictate your life decisions. This is the “leader” who insists his “advice” is for your benefit, and he needs to be sure about matters before you make major life decisions.

Such a person is not offering help but control. They are on an ego trip.

They might say the right things like in James 2. But they are not putting action behind those words. They are merely said to manage their own image as opposed to help the faithful spouse.

Regardless of what a pastor might tell you, YOU get to decide whether to stay or end your marriage ravaged by adultery. That decision is not the pastor’s to make.

They do not have to live the consequences either way like you do. You are an adult with a direct relationship with Holy Spirit (see I Cor 2:15).

Tune into Holy Spirit and tune out religious, controlling people.
