He did not retaliate when he was insulted,
nor threaten revenge when he suffered.
He left his case in the hands of God,
who always judges fairly.-I Peter 2:23, NLT
The secret to dealing with injustice is remembering a higher court exists and we know its Judge is good.
Faith in this Judge allows us to let go of the real injustices we all experience. Only when we truly believe that God will deal with the situation justly and righteously will be able to let go of the pain.
That is what I believe.
This is verse from I Peter points out that is how Jesus endured injustice. He set an example for us.
Notice that the verse does not minimize what was done. The verse acknowledges wrongs happened.
The key is Jesus–our model–entrusted those wrongs to God, Our Father. He let go of the impulse for revenge.
This is what I believe forgiveness looks like in action with a hostile party. Our part is to entrust the wrong to Our Father in Heaven.
It is betting on His character and trusting that He is the Good Judge.
That is a good bet.
