Often, I believe cheaters underestimate us, faithful spouses.
They assume their games will continue undetected and without confrontation. Maybe they had had “success” for so long that they got complacent?
Some treat the faithful spouse as a lesser being. They fail to respect our agency and inherent worth. Cheaters just give out contempt.
But that is an underestimation. Our value trades high!
Honestly, it might be less an underestimation than an overestimation of their own intelligence and guile. They can be SOOO stupid in “hiding” their cheating!
The good news is that we can move on from such an abusive person. We do not have to remain in a marriage to a cheater (see Mt 19:9). God gives us the mercy of divorce for precisely such situations!
