“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
-Jesus in John 16:33b, NIV
Whatever the trouble we may facing, we have these words of comfort from Jesus. The world does not win!
It soothes my anxieties to remember this truth. While Jesus promises that we will experience trouble in this world, He also reminds us we know the One who has overcome (and therefore rules over) this world.
We know how it ends, and it ends with Jesus on His throne making all things right!
I know this is difficult to believe in the middle of such troubles. However, I believe those times are an invitation to exercise our faith-muscles. We get to choose whether we will stand on God’s truth or curse God.
From personal experience, I have found trusting in God’s truth is worth it. God is a very good bet!
