Some songs can invoke a time in our lives with just a few notes.
This song, “You Won’t Relent,” by Misty Edwards does that for me. It transports me back to the immediate time after my divorce.
The devastation of an unwanted divorce is incredible. I think this is especially true for those of us brought up in Christian circles where divorce was (wrongly) taught as never an option.
We have to find our way through this new waste land brought upon us by the sins of our (ex) spouse.
Yet the destruction presents us with an opportunity. It was through this experience of devastation that I experienced the strength of God and His love for me.
It is an opportunity to prove our faith.
We can choose either to cling to God or curse God.
I encourage you to cling. God is a good bet. He can handle your pain and your laments over the myriad injustices you are experiencing. He cares.
