While some pastors will talk about not wishing divorce on anyone, I think that is a late wish. The problem is the adultery and its accompanying lies.
Sometimes a situation is only remedied through a hard and painful action. Surgery requires cutting into flesh. It is bloody, painful, and costly.
Of course, I would wish no one would need surgery. However, I do not wish a person who needs surgery is not allowed to have it.
That is what divorce is. It is spiritual surgery designed to deal with the spiritual sickness of adultery.
We know God takes adultery seriously or else He would not have allowed for the death penalty in the Old Testament. Bereavement is pretty harsh on spouses and children as well and I wish that on no one. But, God thought it was important not to let the evil continue.
Agreed.
