From the beginning, God has cared about the victimized. He cares about justice as He is just!
A real struggle in marriage infidelity situations is being seen and not blamed. The injustice of the situation is truly monumental and unnerving.
Some will choose to engage in some form of “The Shared Responsibility Lie“–i.e. the falsehood that faithful spouses are partially or fully responsible for their Cheater’s sins–to avoid sitting in the discomfort.
I would invite those outside the marriage implosion to resist this temptation. Spiritual and emotional violence–minimally–has been committed against the faithful spouse by the Cheater.
To borrow from someone else, Cheaters have “stolen the reality” of the faithful spouse through their deceptions. We don’t know when the lies began, and therefore, we don’t know what was real when, if ever.
Cheaters have also violated faithful spouses’ souls via soul rape–i.e. uniting a third party to their one flesh union against their will!
I believe these injustices cry out to God!
The only question is whether or not His people will join Him in condemning injustice and supporting the victims of such horrible violence.
