O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
-Matthew 23:37, KJV
What did Jesus do that “made” Jerusalem reject him?
Nothing.
The point of this is to highlight how rejection might have nothing to do with the failings of the person rejected. This is an important concept to grasp as it comes to faithful spouses.
Some Christians need the reminder that it is possible to be rejected for no good reason.
Those always looking for a reason for the rejection are going back to “
The Shared Responsibility Lie.” This is the lie that says we are responsible for another’s actions (including in part).
It is a LIE!
The Bible is clear that we are responsible for our own actions alone (see 2 Corinthians 5:10).
That means the cheater will answer for the act of rejecting the faithful spouse, not the faithful spouse!
