On Being Cursed

IMG_0449

Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, an undeserved curse will not land on its intended victim.

-Proverbs 26:2, NIV

Nasty words are often said over faithful spouses.

It is part of the verbal beat-down many of us endure. This includes from people who ought to know better. For whatever reason, they speak ill of the infidelity victim.

I remember having my career cursed by several actors supporting my (now) ex-wife. They assaulted me at my most vulnerable point in my career.

But those curses–as this Proverb teaches–did not stick.

I did not deserve them.

God is the One who calls.

And He is my Keeper (see Psalm 28:8).

I want to encourage you to not live in fear over the curses leveled at your life during this time. God’s perspective is what counts, and He tells us in Proverbs that those undeserving or even unjust curses will not attach to us–i.e. the innocent ones.

That is a spiritual truth.
